Retail Nurseryman’s Parking Impacted by FDOT Taking

Mr. Tobin represented a Cuban immigrant, Jose Exposito, who came to the United States and built a thriving retail and wholesale nursery business, Soroa Orchids. FDOT took property that impacted its critical customer parking immediately adjacent to the front entrance. The parking area was reestablished by experts retained on behalf of the owner to allow the business to continue operations. FDOT agreed to settle the case for nearly 50 times its original offer.

Initial offer:  $6,000 / Final Compensation: $294,000
